Similar species:

Forewing: M 12.5 to 14.5mm, F 7 to 9.5mm (flightless)

Habitats: Deciduous woodland, parkland, scrub, hedgerows, gardens, heathland and marshes.

Habits: Males can be found on trunks during the day, females low on trunks from sunset. Males will come to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds slowly from May until early October between leaves spun flat together on oaks, Beech, birches, willows, Sweet Chestnut, Hornbeam, Aspen, Blackthorn, Hazel and other trees. It pupates in a cocoon in the leaf litter or just under the soil.
