Habitats: Heathland, scrub, downland, wasteland, quarries or wherever the foodplants are present.
Habits: The moth can be abundant sitting on the foodplant after dark. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in the spun shoots or withered flower-heads of gorses, Broom, Dyer's Greenweed, Petty Whin and Tree Lupin. It pupates on the foodplant, in the earth or in the leaf litter.
