Habitats: Deciduous woodland, woodland margins, parkland and oaks in hedgerows.
Habits: The moth rests on oak trunks during the day. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds from within spun leaves of Pedunculate Oak or Sessile Oak or on the underside of a leaf from a silk tube. It sometimes rolls down the leaf margin. It pupates in a sparse cocoon in the leaf litter or sometimes in Spongy Oak Galls. On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Sweet Chestnut, birches and maples.
