Habitats: Woodland, scrub, parkland and heathland.

Habits: The moth rests in crevices on birch trunks during the day. It comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on birches in either a folded leaf or spun leaves. In Europe it is reported feeding under a folded leaf margin.
