Habits: The moth rests on trunks during the day and is easily disturbed. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds on Silver Birch, Downy Birch, Alder or Italian Alder. It curls up the leaf margins of a leaf until it is partially or fully folded. It is held by thick silk strands. It pupates in a flimsy cocoon in the leaf litter. On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Green Alder.
