Similar species:

Forewing: 5.5 to 6mm

Habitats: Deciduous woodland margins, hedgerows and scrubby heathland. In the north: fens, bogs and damp heathland.

Habits: The moth flies at sunrise and sunset and comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on oak saplings in the south of Britain. In the north-west of Britain it feeds mainly on Bog Myrtle, occasionally Downy Birch and rarely oak. It does this from a silk chamber between leaves spun flat together. It eats the leaf surface, which shows as pale green blotches from the outside of the spinning. It pupates in a flimsy cocoon in the leaf litter. On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Beech and Sea-buckthorn.
