Similar species:

Forewing: 5.5 to 7.5mm

Habitats: Downland, woodland edge, embankments and damp meadows.

Habits: The moth comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva mines the leaves of Ploughman's-spikenard, Common Fleabane, Hemp Agrimony or Elecampane. The larva appears to make at least two cases leaving the initial flattened and keeled case at the margin of the leaf from where it was cut. The final brown, straight and tubular and often hairy, bivalved case is around 9 to 12mm long, m.o. at an approximate 45° angle. It pupates attached to the stem of the foodplant.
