Similar species:
Forewing: 4 to 4.5mm
Habitats: Wasteground, dry grassland and chalk downland.
Habits: The moth rests on the foodplant or adjacent vegetation.
Foodplant: The larva feeds within a single seed of Wild Parsnip in England or Hogweed in Scotland. The larva is difficult to detect, although the seeds may have a small hole in them with some silk showing. It pupates in a sparse cocoon in the leaf litter.
