Habitats: Woodland, parkland, hedgerows, scrub, moorland and gardens.
Habits: It is easily disturbed in the day and flies from late afternoon. The moth comes to light and sugar.
Foodplant: The polyphagous larva feeds from a tube of spun leaves or within a folded leaf on oaks, birches, bramble, Bog Myrtle and a large variety of other trees and shrubs and less often on conifers including larch and spruces, herbaceous plants and grasses. It overwinters in its spinning, then pupates there in the spring or in a cocoon in the leaf litter.
