Similar species:
Forewing: 10 to 13mm
Habitats: It is known only from Glen Tilt in the Scottish Highlands.
Habits: The moth flies weakly in the afternoon and at dusk
Foodplant: The early stages have not been recorded in Britain. On the European mainland the larva overwinters in a spinning while small, then feeds from a silk tube among the roots of its foodplants. It later climbs them to feed. Its foodplants are grasses, Salix and the young growth of spruce. It pupates in a dense cocoon in the larval spinning.
