Habitats: Chalk downland, coastal slopes and sea-cliffs, rough grassland, open woodland and gardens.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day and flies in the late afternoon. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The polyphagous larva spins the flowers and leaves of Ox-eye Daisy, ragworts, knapweeds, buttercups, mints, docks, Grass-leaved Orache, Dyer's-greenweed, Kidney Vetch, restharrows and occasionally foxgloves. The flimsy cocoon is spun amongst the leaf litter.
