Habitats: Woodland, scrub and mature hedgerows.
Habits: It flies at dusk and occasionally comes to light and ivy blossom.
Foodplant: The young larva feeds at first in the buds, then a folded leaf-edge and finally in the spun leaves of Blackthorn, Hawthorn, apples and Common Whitebeam. In captivity it has been found to eat a wide variety of other trees and shrubs. It pupates in a folded leaf or in the leaf litter.
