Habitats: Woodland rides and margins, gardens, scrub, hedgerows and orchards.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day. It flies from dusk and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds from under a folded leaf margin or between spun leaves of roses (including cultivated varieties), brambles, Hawthorn, Blackthorn, plums, apples, pears and Salad Burnet. It has also been recorded from elms, Bilberry, Hazel and Barberry. It may skeletonise the leaves while young, but later feeds from the leaf edge. It pupates within the spinning or spun in the leaf litter.
