Common

Similar species: Acleris notana (next species) has overlapping colour forms. Check genitalia.

Forewing: 6 to 8mm

Habitats: Woodland, parkland, scrub and hedgerows.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day and comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds from between a pair of spun leaves of oaks, sometimes Goat Willow and perhaps other sallows. On the European mainland Beech has also been recorded as a foodplant. It pupates between spun leaves or under a folded leaf-edge.
