Similar species: Spatalistis bifasciana

Forewing: 5 to 7mm

Habitats: Woodland, scrub, hedgerows and gardens.

Habits: The moth flies in a small swarm around the foodplant in warm sunshine. It flies at dusk and visits light at night.

Foodplant: The larva feeds within the berries and seeds of privets, Ash and occasionally Lilac. It pupates in a white flattened cocoon on the ground.

On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on the berries of Barberry.
