Habitats: Salt-marsh, rocky coasts and occasionally inland marshes, fens and heathland bog.
Habits: It sometimes flies in large numbers in evening sunshine. It occasionally comes to light.
Foodplant: The summer generation larva feeds in the flowers of Sea Arrowgrass and Marsh Arrowgrass. The autumn generation larva feeds in the shoots close to the crown, where it mines down into the root to overwinter. It pupates in a silk cocoon in a dead flower stem or amongst adjacent debris.
