Forewing: 4.5 to 5.5mm
Habitats: Sparsely vegetated areas of rough grassland, damp areas amongst sand-dunes and vegetated shingle.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed during the day, flies over the foodplant in the evening and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in the flower-heads, seed-heads and stem of Red Bartsia and Yellow Rattle. In captivity they have been found to pupate either in soft wood or the seed capsules.
