Habits: The larva is easily disturbed from mature birch trunks and foliage during the day and flies around the trees at dusk. It comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in a birch catkin. The full-fed larva overwinters from October in a silk cocoon in a bark crevice, where it pupates in early May.
