Habitats: Coastal slopes and sea-cliffs, wasteground, field margins and arable land.
Habits: It is easily disturbed on warm afternoons, flies in the evening and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in the flowers and seed-heads of Bristly Oxtongue. Inhabited seed-heads often retain the highly visible white pappus. The first brood pupate in the seed-head, the autumn brood overwinter in a cocoon spun in the leaf litter, where they pupate in early May.
