Similar species:

Forewing: 5 to 6.5mm

Habitats: Roadside verges adjacent to sandy heathland.

Habits: The moth may be disturbed on warm afternoons and flies towards sunset.

Foodplant: The first generation larva feeds in the flowers on the unripe seeds of Common Toadflax and Ribwort Plantain. It pupates in the heads of plantain or in the leaf litter. The second generation feeds in the seedpods. The full-fed larva spins a cocoon in the leaf litter or under the soil, where it overwinters until it pupates there in early May.
