Similar species:

Forewing: 7 to 9.5mm

Habitats: Open woodland, woodland rides and margins, scrub, hedgerows, heathland and gardens.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day, flies before sunset and comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva is polyphagous on a variety of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants. It feeds from between loosely spun leaves of honeysuckles, Bilberry, Bog-myrtle, birches, sallows, Alder, Field Maple, elms, brambles, currants, Purging Buckthorn, Common Juniper and pines, willowherbs, Wood-sage, speedwells and Gypsywort. It overwinters in the larval habitation, where it pupates in late April.
