Similar species:

Forewing: 7.5 to 9mm

Habitats: Wasteground, limestone pavement and gardens.

Habits: It flies in sunshine at midday, then late afternoon and evening and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on a fresh or decaying leaf of Strawberry, Barren Strawberry, Mouse-eared Hawkweed or Common Ragwort. Previous authors said the larva fed on the rootstock and roots of Ox-eye Daisy and Mugwort. It will eat dandelion rootstock and decaying leaves in captivity.
