Similar species:

Forewing: 5.5 to 7.5mm

Habitats: Chalk and limestone downland, sea-cliffs, sand-dunes, vegetated shingle and wasteground.

Habits: The moth flies during the day and is very active in sunshine. It later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva overwinters while small. In the spring it feeds from a silk tube low down on thymes, Thrift, sea-lavenders, Bird's-foot Trefoil, clovers, rock-roses, Mouse-ear Hawkweed, Broom Fork-moss and other low-growing plants.

On the European mainland it also feeds on Heather and brooms.
