Similar species:

Forewing: 4.5 to 6mm

Habitats: Open woodland, grassland, wasteland, coastal slopes, sand-dunes and vegetated shingle.

Habits: It occasionally flies during the afternoon. It normally flies from dusk and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva spins the shoots of Creeping Thistle and eats out the hearts. It pupates in a cocoon spun amongst the leaf litter.
