Forewing: 7.5 to 10.5mm
Habitats: Salt-marsh, coastal drainage ditches and brackish wasteland.
Habits: The moth flies in the evening. It later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva lives in the stems of Sea Clubrush, causing them to turn yellow at the leaf tips and stunting growth. It pupates in a white cocoon in the stem. This causes the stem to blacken in the region of the pupa.
