Similar species:

Forewing: 7 to 9.5mm

Habitats: Damp heathland and moorland, mosses, open woodland and scrub.

Habits: The moth can be disturbed by day. It flies from sunset and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on spun Heather or spins together the leaves of birches to form a pocket. It overwinters in a cocoon spun in a dead leaf and this is where it pupates in early April.
