Similar species:

Forewing: 5.5 to 7.5mm

Habitats: Chalk downland, damp woodland, scrub and hedgerows.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day. It flies from early evening and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva spins two leaves together to form a silk-lined 'pod' on Purging Buckthorn and occasionally Alder Buckthorn. It may change spinnings several times. The full-fed larva overwinters in a cocoon in the last of its pods, which falls to the ground in autumn. It pupates there in May.
