Similar species:
Forewing: 5.5 to 8mm
Habitats: Damp open woodland, marshes, fens, bogs and heathland.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from its foodplants. It flies from just before dusk and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva initially lives in a folded leaf of Alder Buckthorn and occasionally Purging Buckthorn. When larger it spins two leaves together, causing irregular blanching of the leaves. The full-fed larva of the second generation overwinters in a cocoon in the larval habitation, where it pupates in April.
