Habitats: Woodland, scrub, hedgerows and birch scrub on heathland, mosses and bogs.

Habits: The moth flies at dusk and occasionally comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds in a folded leaf or spun leaves at the end of a shoot on a small or sapling birch. It pupates in the larval spinning or in a sparsely spun cocoon in the soil.
