Habitats: Open woodland, parkland, scrub, bog margins and gardens.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from its resting place in the day. It flies from just before dusk and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva lives in a lengthways folded leaf of birch or Hazel. It pupates in the soil.
