Habitats: Open woodland, scrub and hedgerows.
Habits: The moth is occasionally disturbed in the afternoon. It flies at dusk and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva lives in a folded leaf or spun shoot of Blackthorn, Wild Cherry or Bird Cherry. It occasionally feeds on Crab Apple and Sour Cherry.
On the European mainland it has also been recorded feeding on Hawthorn.
