Habitats: Open woodland, scrub, moorland, wet heathland, stream margins, damp coastal slopes, sand-dunes and gardens.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day. It flies high around willows from late afternoon until dusk and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva lives in the spun outer leaves of the terminal shoots of Grey Willow, Creeping Willow, Eared Willow and occasionally other willows. It pupates in a sparse cocoon in a leaf-fold on a dead leaf in the leaf litter.
