Forewing: 6 to 8mm
Habitats: Salt-marsh and tidal rivers-banks.
Habits: The moth flies through the late afternoon and evening. It later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva lives in the flowers and seed-heads of Sea Aster, loosely spinning the florets and pappus while feeding on the developing seeds. In October the full-fed larva spins a cocoon in the tidal litter, where it overwinters until it pupates in late May.
