Habitats: Meadows, marshy grassland, marshes and woodland clearings.
Habits: It rests openly on its foodplant in the day and is easily disturbed. It flies in the evening and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in the stems and roots of Common Knapweed. It pupates in April in the upper part of the larval mine.
