Habitats: Woodland rides, clearings and margins. Hedgerows, gardens, calcareous grassland, sea-cliffs, vegetated shingle and sand-dunes.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from rose bushes during the day. It flies from the evening into the night and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva tightly spins the leaves, shoots and flower buds of Dog Rose, Burnet Rose and other roses (including cultivars). It pupates in the larval spinning.
