Forewing: 5.5 to 7.5mm
Habitats: Pine woodland, heathland with pines and gardens.
Habits: The moth flies around pines in the evening and occasionally comes to light.
Foodplant: The young larva bores into a lateral shoot of Scots Pine. It mines the stem and causes resin to flow and the shoot to abort. In the spring it hollows out the smaller buds causing white resin to flow from the base of the buds. It pupates spun in the larval habitation.
