Habitats: Calcareous grassland, neutral grassland, rough ground, road verges and sand-dunes.
Habits: The moth suns itself on the foodplant in sheltered sites and flies in afternoon sunshine. It occasionally comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in a gallery at the base of an old flower stalk of Yarrow. It then burrows into a stem and tunnels down into the rootstock. It pupates in the feeding place.
