Habitats: Coniferous woodland, coniferous plantations and heathland.
Habits: In hot sunny weather the moth flies around the tops of Scots Pines at midday and in the afternoon. It occasionally comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in resinous nodules on the bark of Scots Pine or in the one year old galls of Pine Resin-gall Moth Retinia resinella or the old feeding place of Dioryctria abietella on Scots Pine. It pupates in the larval habitation.
