Habitats: Woodlands, hedgerows, orchards and gardens.
Habits: The moth rests on trunks in the day. It flies from early evening and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva enters the fruit at the calyx of apples, Quince, pears, Peach and other Prunus, Walnut, Sweet Chestnut and Fig. It then feeds on the flesh in a cavity below the skin before burrowing down to the core to feed on the pips. It has also been recorded from Common Whitebeam feeding amongst the berries. It pupates in a silk cocoon under bark or in the leaf litter.
