Forewing: 7.5 to 10mm

Habitats: Mainly coastal.

Habits: Its habits are little known in Britain, but it is now thought to be resident in Suffolk. It comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds in the acorns of Pedunculate Oak. It fills the hollowed-out cavity with frass, which exudes from the acorn. It overwinters as a full-fed larva, possibly not pupating until late June.

On the European mainland it also feeds on the kernels of Sweet Chestnut, Walnut and possibly Beech and Hazel.
