Common

Similar species:

Forewing: 4.5 to 6mm

Habitats: Calcareous grassland, woodland rides and clearings, scrub and marshy grassland

Habits: The moth flies over the foodplants in the early morning and afternoon sunshine. It later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds in the pods or between two tightly spun leaves of Bush Vetch, Bitter Vetch and probably other vetches. In the south of Britain some larvae are full fed and pupate in July, producing moths in August. The larva is usually full-fed in August and spins a cocoon in the leaf litter and overwinters until it pupates in March.

On the European mainland it has been recorded from Meadow Vetchling and Tuberous Pea.
