Similar species: Pammene regiana has less distinct fascia on the leading edge and a more unevenly edged dorsal blotch which meets the dorsum further towards the head.

Habits: The moth flies around the tops of maples on sunny days. It occasionally comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in the seeds of Field Maple. In September the full-fed larva spins a cocoon under the bark at the base of the tree. It then overwinters until it pupates in April.
