Pyralidae
62.065 Blushed Knot-horn Ephestia woodiella Richards and Thomson, 1932
Local
Similar species: Ephestia elutella is usually much paler and less well marked. It is also less often caught in light traps as it is usually found indoors rather than outdoors, but otherwise is so similar that it is best to check the genitalia.
Forewing: 7 to 9mm
Habitats: Woodland, parkland, gardens and coastal sites.
Habits: The moth has been beaten from Ivy, Yew and Alder in the day. It is nocturnal and comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva probably feeds on dry vegetable matter, including dried berries and possibly dead Ivy stems. The full-fed larva overwinters in a silk cocoon until it pupates in May.
