Similar species:

Forewing: 8 to 11mm

Habitats: Woodland, arable land, barns, farm buildings and gardens.

Habits: The moth is nocturnal and comes to light and sometimes sugar. It is sometimes found resting on the inner walls of barns.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on stored hay and clover and probably thatch. It has been recorded from a squirrels drey. Pupation takes place in an oval cocoon in the larval habitation.
