Similar species:

Forewing: 10 to 11mm

Habitats: Marshes, fens, reed-beds, ditches and damp woodland.

Habits: The moth is occasionally disturbed by day. It flies from dusk and later comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds on Creeping Thistle or Marsh Thistle and perhaps other thistles. It turns down the edge of a lower leaf and feeds from the underside near the tip. The full-fed larva overwinters in a cocoon where it pupates in the spring.
