Habitats: Woodland rides, scrub, hedgerows, calcareous grassland, rough grassland, field margins, marshes, wasteground and allotments.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the daytime. It flies from dusk when it visits Common Ragwort and thistles flowers. It later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva feeds in a web under the lower leaves of brambles, Raspberry, Mugwort, Colt's-foot, plantains, knapweeds, thistles, strawberries and occasionally English Elm. It pupates between spun leaves or in a folded leaf.
