Similar species:

Forewing: 12 to 16mm

Habitats: It may occur anywhere. Its greatest numbers are usually near the coast.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed in the day. It flies at night and comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva feeds from a silk-lined tunnel in the soil or along the surface of the ground, with strands of silk attached to the underside of the basal leaves of Greater Plantain, Selfheal and possibly clovers and knotgrass. It pupates in a tough cocoon attached to the foodplant or a stone.
