Similar species:

Forewing: 8 to 9mm

Habitats: Coastal scrub on sand-dunes, lichens on rocks and isolated trees.

Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from lichen covered branches during the day. It flies from dusk and comes to light.

Foodplant: The small larva may overwinter. In the spring it feeds in a slight web on the lobes of the common orange lichen Xanthia parietina, which grows over branches, fences and old walls. It pupates in a flimsy cocoon under the lichen.
