Habitats: Dry grasslands, coastal sand-dunes, downland and dry heathland.
Habits: The moth is easily disturbed from grasses in the day. It flies at dusk and later comes to light.
Foodplant: The larva lives in a silk gallery amongst the base of the stems of bromes or other grasses. It pupates in a long, silk and sand-covered cocoon.
