Habitats: Dry grasslands, vegetated shingle, sand-dunes, heathland and parkland.

Habits: The moth flies from dusk and comes to light.

Foodplant: The larva lives in a funnel-shaped silk tube placed vertically among tufts of Sheep's-fescue and other grasses. It pupates in a strong, sand-covered silk cocoon.
